Our Story
Brothers in Sisters
Three Finger Jack was founded in 2025 by brothers Jason and Mitch Eisenbeis, who saw the need for a gathering place that truly reflects the spirit of this mountain land. With parents who met at Indian Ford Ranch in the 1960s, their roots in this town run deep—and so does their connection to its people.
The name Three Finger Jack was chosen not just to honor the iconic, crag-topped mountain that watches over the region, but also to channel the untamed spirit of the mysterious figure it was named after.
In 1900, Oregon historian and place-name authority Lewis A. McArthur recorded that the mountain was named for a three-fingered trapper who lived in the area in the 1800s. Known simply as Jack, he was a quiet man of the mountains—living off the land, trading with local tribes, and wintering with them when the snow set in. They say he fell in love with a native woman—she became the heart and soul of his wild life.
As for the missing fingers? The story goes that Jack lost them defending his wife from a charging bear. He grabbed the beast by the jaws and stabbed it to death with a Bowie knife. No one knows where Jack came from or where he ended up—but around here, we like to think his wild, enduring spirit still roams these parts.
And you’ll find a piece of it alive and well at the tavern that proudly bears his name.
